About
Chip Kaczynski
Chip Kaczynski’s interest in aviation started back before he was ten years old, when his dad was an airline Captain for Trans World Airlines. Chip learned to fly when he was just 14 years old, he soloed at 15 and earned his private pilot license just after his 16th birthday.
After earning a degree in Aviation Management from Florida Tech, Chip entered the US Air Force and flew AC-130A Gunships for the 711 Special Operations Squadron. He later commanded C-130H models with the US Air Force Reserve and served in several armed conflicts. Chip’s first airline job was with AirTran Airways where he was a Captain on DC-9s, and subsequently at US Airways where he flew the B-727, B-737, and Airbus 319/320/321s.
After the terrorist attacks on the USA on September 11, 2001, Chip was furloughed from the airlines and he started his first consulting company, FLY LBI, Inc. Some high net worth clients included NASCAR drivers/owners/pit crews, US presidential candidates and other politicians, singers/rappers, entertainers, and business owners.
Chip was an instructor at FlightSafety International then earned his Executive MBA from the Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. He is a Managing Director at Atlanta Air, Inc., President of Atlanta Air Maintenance, LLC., and sits on the Board of Directors at AIR3, LLC.
Flying for most of his life, Chip became curious about every single airport he passed over during his travels and why particular airports were built; why that region was chosen for an airport, and eventually all the historical data about each and every airport in the country. Chip contemplated researching and writing a book about all these airports but needed quite a bit more assistance then the US Archives and military historians could provide. This is where the concept of AirportArchives.com began…
